The Challenge

The Big Biscuit already had a recognizable brand filled with bold typography, playful illustrations, and plenty of personality. What it did not have was a dedicated online home for its growing merchandise collection. My job was to take the existing brand assets and translate them into a complete e-commerce experience—one that felt unmistakably like The Big Biscuit without simply duplicating the restaurant website. The store needed to make the merchandise the focus while preserving the humor, energy, and visual character people already associated with the brand.

What I Owned

I designed and built the complete merchandise website using The Big Biscuit’s existing branding as the foundation.

That included establishing the visual direction for the storefront, developing the WordPress and WooCommerce experience, organizing the product catalog, creating the product templates, and designing the responsive shopping journey.

01 / BRAND EXTENSION

Translated existing logos, illustrations, typography, colors, and other brand assets into a distinct online retail experience.

02 / STOREFRONT DESIGN

Created the visual layout and interface for browsing merchandise without losing The Big Biscuit’s personality.

03 / E-COMMERCE DEVELOPMENT

Built the product catalog, product pages, variations, cart interactions, and purchasing journey in WooCommerce.

04 / RESPONSIVE EXPERIENCE

Designed the store to remain visual, accessible, and easy to shop across desktop, tablet, and mobile.

The Approach

Make buying a T-shirt feel as fun as Sunday Brunch

A dedicated e-commerce destination that turns The Big Biscuit’s existing brand assets into a complete and cohesive shopping experience. The finished site gives the merchandise room to stand on its own while maintaining a strong connection to the restaurant brand. Customers can browse the collection, explore product options, and make a purchase through a storefront that feels playful, familiar, and unmistakably Big Biscuit.

01 / Extend

Turn brand ingredients into a new experience

I began with The Big Biscuit’s existing branding and identified the elements that could carry its personality into a merchandise store.

Rather than treating the assets as decoration, I used them to shape the site’s typography, spacing, imagery, navigation, and overall visual rhythm.

02 / Focus

Let the merchandise take center stage

The main restaurant website has to communicate locations, menus, catering, and the larger brand story. The merchandise site had a much more focused purpose.

I designed a streamlined storefront that places products front and center, keeps navigation simple, and makes the path from browsing to purchasing clear.

03 / Connect

Build a store that still belongs to the brand

Although the merchandise site operates as its own shopping destination, it needed to feel connected to the larger Big Biscuit experience.

Consistent branding and a clear route back to the primary website keep the two experiences related without forcing them into the same structure.

Inside the Build

Brand Extension

I transformed The Big Biscuit’s existing logos, illustrations, typography, and colors into a dedicated online store that feels like a natural extension of the restaurant brand

Custom Storefront

I built a focused WooCommerce experience that makes it easy to browse merchandise, view product photography, choose sizes and colors, and add items to the cart.

Responsive Shopping

Category controls help visitors move between different types of stories, while the underlying template keeps new video content consistent and easy to expand.

I developed a custom template system that keeps the presentation consistent while allowing visitors to explore individual leaders and their stories.

The Result

A dedicated e-commerce destination that turns The Big Biscuit’s existing brand assets into a complete and cohesive shopping experience. The finished site gives the merchandise room to stand on its own while maintaining a strong connection to the restaurant brand. Customers can browse the collection, explore product options, and make a purchase through a storefront that feels playful, familiar, and unmistakably Big Biscuit.
