A large-scale WordPress build that transformed an evolving design into a cohesive digital platform—connecting more than 100 senior living communities through custom templates, responsive experiences, contextual interactions, and integrated decision-making tools.

The Challenge
Americare needed more than a collection of attractive pages. The website had to support a large senior living organization with more than 100 communities, multiple levels of care, extensive educational content, and visitors arriving with very different needs. The initial design established part of the visual direction, but much of the site structure, responsive behavior, template logic, and interactive experience still needed to be defined. My role was to turn that evolving design into a complete WordPress system—one that could organize a large amount of content, guide families toward the right information, and remain manageable as the site continued to grow.

I built the website’s structure and completed the WordPress implementation, translating the design into a consistent system of pages, templates, responsive components, and interactive experiences.
That included developing custom templates for individual communities, leadership profiles, and the video gallery; creating the tablet and mobile layouts; implementing conditional calls to action; integrating third-party tools; and designing the interactive behavior throughout the site.

The finished website extends the original design into a fully realized experience—with reusable content templates, thoughtful responsive behavior, contextual calls to action, integrated decision-making tools, and custom interactions throughout. For visitors, it provides a clearer path through an important and deeply personal decision. For Americare, it provides a flexible website capable of supporting a large organization and continuing to grow with it.

Give every type of content a clear place
I began by establishing a structure that could support both Americare’s organization-wide content and the individual communities within its network.
The architecture had to connect care options, wellness programs, leadership, resources, videos, and community-specific information without making visitors navigate the organization’s internal complexity.

Build once, support content at scale
I developed reusable templates and content patterns that allowed recurring information to remain consistent while giving each community, leader, and video its own identity.
This created a more maintainable WordPress system and made it possible to manage a substantial amount of content without rebuilding each page individually.
03 / Humanize
Design the moments between the pages
Senior living is a personal and often emotional decision. The experience needed to feel helpful and approachable—not mechanical.
I designed the responsive behaviors, calls to action, animations, filters, navigation states, and other interactive details that guide visitors through the site and help them take the next step with confidence.
Inside the Build
Community Template System
I created the custom template used across Americare’s individual community pages.
The system brings together location details, available care options, photography, amenities, contact information, and conversion opportunities within a consistent structure. Each community can present its own information while remaining part of the larger Americare brand.
Leadership Templates
Americare’s leadership content required a repeatable format that could organize professional information without making a page of biographies feel dense or repetitive.
I developed a custom template system that keeps the presentation consistent while allowing visitors to explore individual leaders and their stories.
Filterable Video Gallery
Category controls help visitors move between different types of stories, while the underlying template keeps new video content consistent and easy to expand.

Context-aware Calls to Action
The “Find a Community” buttons use conditional logic to appear only when they are useful.
On pages where the visitor is already searching or viewing community-specific information, the buttons disappear to avoid redundant actions. Elsewhere, they remain visible as a clear next step.
This small detail makes the interface feel more intentional and responsive to the visitor’s current context.
3rd Party Integrations
I incorporated third-party tools from Further and Roobrik into the site experience, giving visitors additional ways to ask questions, explore their options, and determine which type of senior living may be appropriate.
The challenge was not simply adding external scripts. Each integration needed to function within the site without feeling disconnected from the surrounding design and user journey.
Flourish Wellness Bird Animation
The bird animation began as a self-initiated enhancement—not part of the original project request. I saw an opportunity to bring the Flourish Wellness artwork to life and created the animation as an added detail for the client.
It became more than a website interaction. The client embraced the animation and began using it throughout Americare’s internal and external marketing, extending a small creative addition into a broader brand asset.
Responsive Interaction Design
The original designs did not fully define how every component should behave across screen sizes.
I designed the tablet and mobile layouts, determining how navigation, typography, imagery, content sections, forms, filters, and calls to action should adapt. I also developed the hover states, transitions, expandable content, and other interactions that make the finished website feel complete.
